The SMARTI team has successfully installed and commissioned another AI-powered iCon Scanner with integrated iCon Feeders, further strengthening our position as a provider of advanced wood scanning solutions for the wood processing industry.
The system is fully integrated into an automated cross-cutting line, positioned in front of two high-speed cross-cut machines and feeding both simultaneously. This configuration ensures continuous production, high throughput, and optimized material flow while maintaining consistent quality control across the entire process.
Powered by SMARTI’s in-house developed AI technology and various advanced machine vision algorithms, the four-sided scanner performs real-time defect detection, grading, and cutting optimization. Each lamella is automatically analyzed to determine the most efficient cutting strategy and prepared for the subsequent finger jointing process, improving yield, reducing waste, and maximizing material utilization. The combination of reliable AI-driven defect detection, precise scanning accuracy, and seamless automated feeding increases production speed, stability, and overall efficiency.
